“Urbanism is not just bigger design projects, mega-styling the city as it is often considered in recent ‘big’ planning projects. Urbanism is not only informal settlements, incremental planning, large in-city developments, land reclamations or below-subsistence bio-urbanism in villages in Africa, India and Asia (or Alaska? or North Canada?). It is an emerging critical and spatial practice, a way of seeing and acting which can place in context the resultant design thinking, the contrary conditions of market and media, and contested utopian (social) visions. Did Nietzsche really have the last word in his Genealogy of Morals: Man would sooner have the void for his purpose than be void of purpose” – Professor Roger Connah
