OTS Student Design Challenge

Hey everyone, we are looking for a 3 person team to represent Carleton Architecture in the 2nd OTS Student Design challenge. If interested please send an email with all the information described below to andrea@innovolve.com (Deadline is Wednesday Dec 19th at 5pm)

The 2nd Annual Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS) Student Design Challenge aims to inspire post-secondary students in the creative uses of Tire Derived Products (TDPs). The challenge also embraces ecological design that preserves and restores urban environments.

Participating students will gain both creative and practical experience as they seek to design innovative urban landscaping and design solutions for the YMCA downtown location at Yonge and Grosvenor. In addition to scholarship money, the winners of the OTS Student Design Challenge will have the opportunity to see their design concept come to life.

We are currently selecting one team to represent your university in the two-day Design Jam, taking place on January 18 & 19 in downtown Toronto. In order to qualify, please send the following to me (andrea@innovolve.com) by 5:00pm on Wednesday, December 19.

1) Your team response (500 words max.) to the question below

2) Resumes of each team member

3) The student registration form

The Question: “How does sustainability influence the way you look at design decisions in your community? Please cite and share your thoughts on any example of a recent development that you think could have pushed the envelope further on sustainability (inside or outside of your community, building or landscaping related). Please provide specific ideas for improvement you may have.”

If you are travelling from out of the Greater Toronto Area, OTS will pay for your travel and accommodation. Please be sure to make clear on the attached registration form if you qualify for this reimbursement.

If you are selected to represent your school, you will be informed by December 21st. Please make sure you are available for the dates of the Design Jam. For more information, please visit: www.otsdesignchallenge.com.
